AAA Migrates Popular TripTik Service to Internet Using Kivera Solutions

With more than 43 million members, the American Automobile Association (AAA) is not only one of the world's largest private associations (second only to the Catholic Church) - it's also the premier provider of travel information and services throughout the United States and Canada.
Whether busy providing personalized travel information services or roadside assistance programs, the century-old association constantly seeks to expand its offerings with new products, services and delivery methods. Chief among its recent initiatives is a collaboration with Kivera to bring next-generation map technology to the web.
AAA teams up with Kivera
AAA selected Kivera to help make its widely popular TripTik routing service available to members via the Internet. The Association chose Kivera for its recognized expertise in exceptionally fast and precise searching, calculation, routing and display for online routing.
For Internet TripTik, AAA uses a Kivera routing engine to power its custom-built application along with Kivera-developed conversion technologies and in-house tools to display its maps. The collaboration allows AAA to easily produce private-label online maps that look like its widely recognized print maps, a feature which no other online routing provider offers.
In the future, AAA plans to use Kivera technology to take raw data from Geographic Data Technologies (GDT) and Navigation Technologies (NavTech) and spatially process them into AAA's proprietary format. This format supports the development and maintenance of the organization's more than 43 million paper maps, as well as the maps in its highly regarded TourBooks, and its online routing and search functions.
With Kivera, AAA enjoys processing autonomy, running the entire Kivera-generated process on their in-house servers. This gives the Association direct control over system uptime and performance.
Kivera's flexible tools and technology allow AAA to integrate data easily into Internet TripTik - enabling the Association to include a range of value-added information from scenic routing and construction detours to potentially life-saving information, such as winter road closures.
